TEAM We are a team of experienced medical device professionals. Our founders have extensive experience in minimally invasive and open surgery, especially cardiac and vascular surgery. Our team has deep expertise in finance, marketing, and engineering. We are committed to developing minimally invasive, ergonomically designed endoscopic solutions that improve outcomes and operator work flow through improved visualization, ergonomics and instrument handling. Our first design concept is a wireless endoscope for minimally invasive vein harvesting for cardiac surgery.
Pat Walsh Co-Founder/CEO Pat is a co-founder of Scopernicus is also the founder of PTW Advisors a publishing and coaching company. Previously, He was president and CEO of Maquet Cardiac Surgery a business unit of Getinge AB. His work experience includes accounting, finance and operations in the Oil Industry, Computer Software Industry and the Medical Device Industry. He holds a BA in Economics from Rutgers Newark, an MBA in Finance from New York University and is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive).
Paul Kawula Co-Founder/CTO Paul is a co-founder of Scopernicus and also was a technical founding member of Cardio-Genesis Corporation pioneering TMR therapy, which went public in 1997 and is still an active company. His work experience includes engineering, quality and compliance levels in the medical device, scientific, photonics, satellite and semiconductor industries. He holds an A.S. Degree in general science from Foothill College, California and and holds nine patents related to the medical device and laser/optical fields.
James McAvinn Co-Founder James is a co-founder of Scopernicus. He holds a B.A., Physics from Indiana University, an M.S., Bioengineering from The University of Illinois at Chicago, and an M.B.A. from The University of Chicago.
